How do I schedule a consultation and what does that entail?

The first step is to fill out the contact box here. Dr. Luckman will respond to you as soon as possible. Pending Dr. Luckman's availability, she will set up a free brief phone consultation. She may also provide you with referrals and recommendations.

How long and frequent are sessions?

Individual therapy sessions are typically 45-55 minutes long with meetings that occur once per week. The frequency and length of sessions may be evaluated on a case by case basis.

How long can I expect to be in therapy?

Dr. Luckman tailors treatment according to the goals that she identifies with the patient. They will also work together to evaluate the treatment progress. Therefore the number of sessions vary.

Is therapy confidential?

Therapy is confidential in accordance with HIPPA Privacy Rules that are in place to protect the patient. There are exceptions to confidentiality in the instance that the patient or someone else is in direct danger. What insurances are accepted?

Dr. Luckman is an in-network provider with Aetna and Wellfleet (New York University’s student insurance). Patients are responsible for the payment of their copay at the time of the session.
 
Dr. Luckman is an out-of-network provider with all other insurance plans. Many insurance plans offer reimbursement options and Dr. Luckman can assist in the process of submitting for reimbursement. It is suggested that you contact your insurance provider to inquire about your benefits prior to beginning treatment. Please reach out to Dr. Luckman to discuss fees.

Are sessions in-person or virtual?

Sessions are offered in-person in New York or virtual for those located in New York or New Jersey.

What is the No Surprise Act: Good Faith Estimate?

Accepted Answer

The "No Surprises" Act requires health care providers to provide current and new patients who are uninsured or self-pay with a "Good Faith Estimate" (GFE) of cost for treatment. This regulation attempts to provide patients with transparency regarding their health care costs.

Many factors make it difficult to provide an estimate given that the length of therapeutic services is dependent on the individual client and their goals for treatment. Ultimately it is the patient who may decide to stop treatment at any time.

If the patient is uninsured or using self-pay, Dr. Luckman will provide the patient with a GFE orally and in writing. The GFE is variable based on the session fee, duration and frequency of therapy agreed upon by the patient and Dr.Luckman. The GFE is not binding or a guarantee that the patient and therapist will work together.
